15y: Jeans and Jackets.

Although many of our 15y anniversary items that have released this fall have been partnerships with brands we love, it was important that we also produce a few items central to our brand's identity. 3sixteen's beginnings lie in graphic t-shirts, so we reissued some of our favorite archive graphics this past summer. Our most popular (and longest running) button down shirt is the Crosscut Flannel, so we created a new one based off a legacy plaid pattern that customers have loved and continued to request over the years. We've been wanting to build a custom chambray workshirt from the ground up, starting with yarn sourcing - so we took the opportunity to do that this year. But above all that, we are a jean company. We make and sell more jeans than we do any other product in our lineup, so it was only right that we produce some special edition denim and Type 3s jackets to celebrate the occasion.

The denim is a 16.5oz raw indigo selvedge denim woven in Japan that features a ton of variance in the warp yarn. This heavy slub yarn gives a similar effect to what you see on our 15 year chambrays: beautiful, inconsistent vertical falling that will only become more pronounced as the fabric wears in over time. The vertical moiré effect that you see on the denim when it's raw will mellow out as the denim fades. For ease of sizing, this denim is sanforized - so no presoak is necessary.

We applied this new fabric first to our Type 3s jacket, a silhouette we launched four years ago in our 14.5oz shadow and double black denim. While we did make patchwork indigo Type 3s jackets a few years back to celebrate The Class Room's 5 year anniversary, this marks the first time we've created a Type 3s jacket fully out of indigo denim. Instead of our standard corduroy pocketbags, we scoured the warehouse for remnant flannel fabrics that we've used over the years and cut them up to use as pocketbag material, which makes for some fun variance from piece to piece. We also tapped our friends at Tanner Goods to produce heavyweight vegetable tanned 15y patches which, like our standard logo patches, will darken and soften the more that the jacket is worn.

For the jeans, we elected to make them out of our two newest cuts: CT (Classic Tapered) and, for the first time, NT (Narrow Tapered). The CT features a higher rise with room in the top block, combined with a taper from the knee down; it's been one of our best selling cuts since we introduced it two years ago. The NT sees its first release in this 15y anniversary fabric, and is the slimmest cut in our jean lineup. Compared to our ST fit, the NT has a higher rise and slightly roomier thighs, coupled with a smaller leg opening. We chose to photograph the NT for this blog post to show what the fit looks like.

Like the jackets, we used flannel remnants for the pocketbags to showcase a little bit of our brand's history inside. They also have the same natural veg tan patch on the outside.

The 15y denim lays folded on the ground, showing a white pocket flasher with our 15y logo printed on it.

The 15y Anniversary Jeans and Jackets are now available via our LA flagship and will drop on our website on Thursday, December 20th. Just under 100 units of each style were produced, and once they are sold out we will not restock them.
