Viberg SS20 Makeups.
On Friday, we launch three new makeups in conjunction with Viberg. They were designed with a nod to SS20's color palettes, but we see them transitioning easily into Fall/Winter as well.
First up is the Slipper; we've been wanting to run another one with Viberg since we released our well-received natural kangaroo on a mini ripple sole two years ago. This style is perfect to wear sockless in the summertime, and we love the unstructured heel that you can step onto mule-style if you're just running around the corner on a quick errand. The mini-ripple sole has been swapped for a leather bottom with a dovetailed heel that can be replaced when it's worn out; and the leather we chose was CF Stead's Anise Kudu which is used on the reverse (suede) side. As you'll see in our FW20 lookbook that we will debut in the coming month, this Slipper works really well with outfits in the colder months too. It's a versatile shoe.
The Service Boot on the Morflex sole also features a CF Stead Kudu suede, but in a slightly lighter, creamier shade: Peanut. What we were aiming for with this Service Boot was a casual, comfortable daily wearer that required little break-in. The Goodyear welt coupled with the super-light Vibram sole significantly decreases the boot's weight as compared to a stitchdown boot on a leather/dainite sole. This boot would look great with a thrashed pair of our 100x jeans or our ecru chinos which will be restocking soon.
Last up is something a little outside the box, but those of you who follow along with us know that we really enjoy trying new things with our Viberg makeups. We love Viberg's Boondocker silhouette which is based off standard issue WW2 USN boots. A historically correct makeup would utilize a light tan roughout leather with a cord sole, but we chose to reinterpret it using a beautiful Black Split Horsebutt leather from Maryam that has been oiled on the roughout side. The boot sits on the 2045 last, which provides significantly more room in the forefoot and has a deeper toebox than most of the other boot makeups we've done in the past. We also had the natural midsole hand-oiled to give a more antiqued finish. We're particularly excited about how this boot style turned out and are excited to release it.
All three new Viberg for 3sixteen styles release tomorrow, July 17th, at noon EDT.
