This summer, we're launching two new short sleeve shirts as part of our ongoing "Iterations" series. We design seasonal collections almost a year in advance of release, and oftentimes we come across beautiful fabrics that we want to work with right away. Other times, we come up with an idea for a new silhouette and want to test it out in a small, limited-edition run before introducing it as part of a larger production run. Iterations is our avenue to meet both of these needs; we use it as an opportunity to test new ideas and fabrics in between larger seasonal releases.
Earlier this year, we came across some beautiful Japanese fabrics featuring mid-century prints and knew right away that we had to put them to use. When we received the sample yardage, we found the fabric weight to be a bit heavier and stiffer than what we'd typically source for a warmer weather shirt. Undeterred, we sewed them into samples and then worked with our wash house on a rinse that would soften the fabric and give it a more broken-in feel. We're really happy with how they turned out and are excited to launch them next Friday via select retailers and our own website and flagship store.
The Labyrinth print is made of a 100% cotton weave and features a pattern of interlocked boxes and lines. We applied it to our Vacation Shirt body which features a 50's style open collar and a crossed back yoke. The Jacks print is a Cotton/Linen fabric that is also woven in Japan - the linen gives the jacks a slight natural flecking that can be seen up close. We put this fabric onto our Short Sleeve BD shirt, which utilizes a button down collar and straight back yoke, coupled with chainstitch runoffs. As mentioned before, both shirts have been given a garment wash to soften the fabric and eliminate any future shrinkage.
The Labyrinth Vacation Shirt and Jacks Short Sleeve BD Shirt will both retail for $175, and will be available on Friday, July 5th via the retailers listed below. Limited quantities will also be available on 3sixteen.com at noon EDT and via our LA Flagship.
