French Blue Worksuit.
We're excited to launch the French Blue Worksuit for SS21. Both the Band Collar Workshirt and the Work Pant are contemporary takes on classic workwear styles; our intent in modernizing heritage styles is to preserve function while updating both detailing and wearability. Starting with the fabric, we chose a spring-weight herringbone twill fabric woven in Japan. It has a soft hand but slight heft to it which makes it comfortable enough for warmer months without being too light for all year round. The fabric is dyed in a slightly washed-out blue color that reminds us of classic French workwear. The fabric will soften and wear in beautifully with wear and washes as the seams and high friction areas start to grey out.
The Band Collar Workshirt is a new style that we debut this season and is an updated take on our classic Utility Shirt. A contemporary band collar offers a modern feel, while the squared off chest pockets harken back to the classic workshirt. The flat hem and split side seam paired with a slightly roomier fit allow this shirt to be worn over a tee or as a light outerwear option when thrown over another button down. The Work Pant made its first appearance in our Wide Wale Japanese Cord in FW20 and was well received, so we are excited to roll it out this season in the French Blue HBT. It features a straight leg fit and high rise reminiscent of classic work pants of the 1930’s and 40’s. Rounded rear patch pockets are inspired by vintage French workwear detailing, and the pant is finished with double needle flat fell seams throughout for extra durability. Both the Band Collar Workshirt and Work Pant retail for $265 and are cut and sewn in the USA in the same factory that sews our denim.
