Viberg for 3sixteen: FW16 Makeups.

We’ve partnered with Victoria-based bootmaker Viberg to produce three new exclusive boots for the FW16 season. Two of these styles utilize a beautiful oil tanned leather from Horween Leather Company in Chicago, IL which we’ve called Vintage Mocha Oil Harness. Unlike their other hot-stuffed options such as Chromexcel, this leather is surface waxed with an emulsified oil & wax blend, resulting in a hard-wearing burnishable leather that needs little to no maintenance and exhibits lots of pull-up.

We worked with Nick Horween to source a leather that would closely resemble a brown harness leather that co-owner Andrew Chen chose for an MTO pair he ordered from Viberg six years ago. That same worn-in boot has been photographed with its newer counterpart to show the kind of patina that it can develop over time. The two boots utilize Viberg’s iconic 1950 Service Boot silhouette using stitchdown construction; one is on the 2030 last with a brogued captoe and a dainite sole, and the other is a plain toe boot on the 1035 last with a double stacked leather sole.

The third boot style is a Scout Boot in Navy Latigo roughout leather. The Scout is a modified version of Viberg’s iconic 105 Logger boot which was first debuted in the 1950’s; the Scout is a modernized take with a shorter 6” shaft. We elected to pair the upper with a Vibram Gloxi-Cut wedge sole, a lightweight option that is extremely easy to break in due to the scored flex points. The boot features goodyear welt construction with a beautiful natural leather split welt for a clean look. What we've ended up with is a rugged workboot silhouette with unexpected, refined details.

All three boot styles release on Friday, September 16th at noon EST via our webstore.
