Something Old, Something New.
Oh Friday, August 20th, we release two quick end of summer pieces that'll help carry us forward into Fall. What's interesting about this release, to us, is the fact that the two items are an interesting blend of old and new - both are made in our partner factory in India, but they're quite different in execution while being unified in overall aesthetic approach. Let's start with the shirt.
The Handstitched Vacation Shirt features a lightweight black linen that is woven in India; it's got a beautiful textured hand that somehow gets better the more it's worn. We've mentioned this before but it bears repeating - linen isn't often thought of as a fabric that ages well, but if you've bought any pieces from us in the past you'll know that with every wash they take on very subtle changes that help them to look lived-in and well worn. The standout detail on this shirt is the beautiful blanket stitch detail that is handsewn across the sleeve cuffs and hemline in a thick ecru thread. We're amazed that our factory in India was willing to take on such a manual process with this shirt detailing and we are thrilled with the final result; we feel it provides just the right amount of pop.
The Trail Short, which we launched a few weeks back via retailers, will now be available online and in store directly from us. Inspired by our favorite outdoors shorts combined with tons of improvements for daily city wear, we feel pretty strongly that this one can be a daily driver well into fall. They’re crafted of a lightweight 3oz. black nylon that’s super comfortable and breathable, and feature zip closure pockets to secure your essentials when sitting down or riding. Snap closure back pockets keep your wallets safe and a nylon webbing belt offers additional waist cinching. Jump in a lake or bike Prospect Park - these shorts can do it all, and do it well. We started dipping our toes into clothing with a technical slant earlier this year with our water resistant ponchos and feel like these Trail Shorts are a logical next step. They're clean, modern and wearable with lots of different 3sixteen pieces that you already own. We think they pair really nicely with the Vacation Shirt we're releasing.
