Natural Denim.

Natural Denim.

The natural denim jacket is modeled worn over a black tee.

This Friday, August 2nd, we will be releasing our Type 3s jacket and chino in a lightweight natural selvedge denim woven by Kuroki Mills in Okayama, Japan. We've been working with Kuroki for almost 10 years now, from making proprietary core fabrics to sourcing special denim for smaller projects, and are thankful that they continue to produce textiles that exceed our expectations time after time. This 12oz natural selvedge denim that we're launching checks all the boxes.

The denim is a 12oz raw ecru selvedge denim that has been given a hot wash and line dry for added softness. We wanted both the jacket and the chino to feel like garments you've had in your closet for years. Ecru comes from the French word "écru" which translates to unbleached or raw. Many often refer to raw selvedge denim as denim in its purest form. We would venture to say that natural denim takes that a step further, as the cotton threads are completely undyed, yielding a cream color with warm undertones. Up close, you'll see little brown flecks that are remainders of the cotton seeds; once natural denim is bleached white, you lose this character.

We've applied this standout fabric to two of our most popular silhouettes: the Type 3s and the chino bottom. Like the lightweight Type 3s garment we released previously, this jacket features our updated fit that includes a roomier chest, dropped armholes and slightly longer sleeves. The chino is our standard cut that you can find in all of our in-line selvedge twills. Please note that if you own our other chino bottoms, you'll probably want to buy a size up in the natural due to the garment wash process.
